Our Mad Scientists
Atomic Allen
Chief Mad Scientist
Allen is passionate about children, science, and teaching, which makes him an ideal Chief Mad Scientist. Prior to starting Mad Science of Southern MA & RI in the summer of 2002, he had spent over 20 years as an Engineering Manager in various aspects of the semiconductor industry. Mad Science is a welcome change.
Terrestrial Teresa
Operations Manager
Teresa sees the challenge of coordinating all of the Mad Scientists and kits and take homes as a giant puzzle to be solved. She loves science and sharing it with others. She believes that it is important for students to take an interest in science early.
Jolting Jonathan
Sales & Marketing Manager
Jon originally hails from northern New York State, so he still doesn't understand why people make such a big deal about New England winters. After spending time studying Shakespeare in London and a few years performing in NY and Boston, he found himself in RI and eventually found his way to Mad Science.
Ballistic Bruce
Bruceis a retired science teacher of 34 plus years. He has taught a variety of science subjects, and the students loved his fun approach to teaching these subjects. There were a lot of hands on activities both inside and outside. He is also a former runner and still enjoys staying fit.
Bunsen Betty
Betty brings the experience of 30+ years as a Special Education teacher to Mad Science. She really enjoys teaching hands-on activities and watching children learn by exploration. Her theater background also helps to make lessons very engaging.
Carbon Carol
Carol retired from teaching after 34 years. Students always enjoyed her classes because of her hands on approach. She joined Mad Science because she very much missed working with students and the creative aspect of teaching.
Kinetic Ken
Ken loves teaching and loves science, so being a Mad Scientist is a natural fit. When not teaching young minds science, he is teaching teenagers how to drive! He is also an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, so he also teaches swordsmanship.
Lunar Lori
Lori has an M.Ed in Early Childhood Education and has extensive experience with children. She has taught in a variety of preschool settings and has learned to interact with a diverse number of people. While she can speak in front of a group of parents, she is MUCH more comfortable dealing with a room full of children.
Solar Shelly
Shelly has dedicated her life to working with and inspiring children, and hands-on science is one of her favorite aspects of working with children. She has dual degrees in Human Development Studies and Theater which help to keep programs lively.
